Doctors Of Chiropractic

What is a Doctor of Chiropractic?

State licensed and regulated, he/she is a valuable member of the health care professions. Six years of college study and internship (more if he/she is a specialist) go into the making of a Doctor of Chiropractic. His/her areas of study include some of the most advanced fields of science....anatomy, bacteriology, pathology, physiology, biochemistry, pediatrics, geriatrics, spinal manipulation. He/she has many hours of study in such vital subjects as X-ray, nutrition and physical therapy.

Your chiropractic doctor is primarily concerned with the spine and how its interplay with the nervous system affects many important body functions. He/she knows that a misaligned vertebra can cause excruciating pain in the immediate back area-- but it can also interfere with the nerves leading from the spine, thereby affecting distant portions of the body. He/she is especially skilled in treating neuro-musculo-skeletal problems, such as disc and other back disorders, neck problems, whiplash and conditions of the knee, shoulder, elbow, hand and foot joints.

How Well-Educated are Today's Doctors of Chiropractic?

Have you ever wondered just how much education your Doctor of Chiropractic is required to have compared to a doctor of medicine? The facts may surprise you.

Today's Doctor of Chiropractic must complete many years of pre-medical college and four more years of highly-specialized graduate school training to graduate and earn licensure. They must meet these stringent educational requirements, plus complete over 900 hours of internship. This qualifies them for licensure in all 50 states and Canada.

They must pass basic national science board exams (the same that is given to medical graduates), and must also pass a rigid chiropractic state board exam to obtain state licensure.

Continuing educational seminars must also be completed for annual license renewal.

Chiropractic has gained recognition as a thoroughly-comprehensive, scientifically-sound force among the healing arts.

Today, chiropractic is the largest and fastest-growing drugless healing art.

Only chiropractic concerns itself with the interrelationship of structure and body functions, and only chiropractic effectively utilizes natural, drugless methods of treatment - primarily spinal adjustments.
